Luke Kasteel

As a former pro, you can often find him on the ice or in the gym testing his latest programs and drills on himself; Luke is a big believer in practicing what you preach. His technical mind, alongside his drive to find new ways to continually challenge and develop players, means that anyone who works with him is getting tested and proven methods. His unique approach to player development utilizes video review, testing and tracking to help athletes learn and progress faster.

On the ice, Luke runs private, semi private and group sessions. Off the ice, he helps build skill development plans and does individual video breakdown of players’ games. This breakdown greatly improves players’ abilities by helping them learn to use their skills in the most effective ways. Luke customizes his lessons to each individual player. He covers everything from power skating to special scoring techniques; however, his specialty is teaching elite stick handling, fakes, and game-specific moves to make his players unstoppable.

Luke’s hockey has taken him all over North America where he has learned from coaches at both the pro and junior levels. His pro career includes stops in New York, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Mississippi. He grew up right here in North Vancouver and has over six years of coaching experience on and off the ice with players from Atom to Pro. His skill development work experience includes: NSWC, NVMHA, Hockey Performance Centre, Hollyburn Midget AAA, and running his own private programs. This season Luke is honoured to be an assistant coach of the NSWC Bantam AAA team. He has extensive knowledge in skill development, enjoys teaching motivated athletes and knows what it takes to make the next level.
