Marlins Swim Team

Are your children looking for a way to keep fit and have fun this summer while they take a break from their winter sports? Running from May through July, the NSWC’s Marlins Swim Club is an ideal cross-trainer and offers another fabulous sport for children from 5 to 16.

The program features:

  • certified professional coaches
  • dedicated swim times and lanes in our beautiful outdoor heated pool
  • choice of early-morning and/or late afternoon practices
  • choice of competitive or recreational training
  • training divisions for all levels
  • plenty of social activities such as parties, movie nights, and outings
  • both local and away swim meets
  • cool club swimsuits (No, the boys don’t have to wear Speedos!)

Children benefit from:

  • outstanding cross-training for hockey players and figure skaters
  • unbelievable skill and fitness development
  • making new friends with children outside their primary sport and age group
  • all that fresh air and sunshine!

School volunteers hours can be generated for swimmers willing to become Junior Leaders

Food/Drink Suggestions

  • Gatorade, water, chocolate milk (the latter is good for recovery)
  • Fruit
  • Trail mix/granola bars
  • Crackers/bagels with cream cheese
  • Sandwiches (peanut butter is a good one)
  • Pasta/Instant Noodles

What to Bring to a Swim Meet

  • Three or more towels per swimmer
  • Sleeping bag
  • Fold-up camp chairs
  • Tarp/picnic blanket
  • Warm clothing for swimmer – hoodie (x2), sweatpants (or PJ bottoms), 2 t-shirts, etc.
  • Fleece blanket
  • Crocs or sandals
  • Sunscreen/bug spray
  • Pen/highlighter
  • Playing cards/book/baseball/gloves/electronics i.e. DS, PSP (in other words, something for your kids to do while they’re waiting to swim)
  • Cooler with plenty of drinks/snacks
  • $$ (for meet program and concession if desired)
