Minor Hockey Programs
One of the biggest assets of the NSWC is the strength of its hockey program and hockey brand. The program is nationally recognized and is the major driver of membership at the Club. Dominated by one of the strongest coaching lineups, additional ice times, enhanced skill development, and off-ice training, the NSWC is one of the premium choices for hockey.
NSWC Hockey prides itself on offering the most comprehensive hockey development based on LTAD principles for all ages and skill ranges of any association in the world. We work hard to shape teams and players at every level so that they are ready to compete and be successful. Not only is there a focus on skill/athletic development, but also fundamental movements, life-skills, teamwork, confidence, sportsmanship, leadership and respect throughout all ages and levels.

Private and Small Group Lessons
The Development Team at the North Shore Winter Club is pleased to offer individual skill development programs to players of all ages.
Private and Small Group Lessons provide players with a great opportunity to have specifically tailored instruction to promote rapid development toward individual training goals. Each lesson, or series of lessons, will focus on improving specific player weaknesses while providing a greater understanding of overall game-play and strategies.
Open Hockey Policy
The Hockey Department has developed, and will be implementing the following model for Open Hockey usage:
- Open Hockey that is on the schedule (https://nswc.finnlyconnect.com/ ) will not be altered 72 hours in advance.
- Private Lessons will be booked 72 hours in advance, so there will be no overlaps.
- If you wish to book the ice privately, a fee will be applied. Please contact Evan Richardson (firstname.lastname@example.org), or the front desk (email@example.com) to book your slot.
Reminder to our members:
In addition, this is a great opportunity to revisit the policies regarding Private Lesson Ice and Open Hockey.
Full Hockey equipment is required by players on both Open Hockey and Private Lesson ice (18 and under). All adults must wear an approved Helmet, no exceptions. It is important to remember to always sign in for Open Hockey at the Front Desk for liability reasons; as well this will help us continuously track the high traffic times for Open Hockey usage.
Open Hockey Ice Policy:
Private lessons are not to take place on ice dedicated to Open Hockey under any circumstances.
Guests are only able to use Open Hockey if they are accompanying a member, and are responsible to pay the guest fee.
Guests will be required to sign a waiver at the Front Desk before being able to use Open Hockey.
Private Lesson Ice Policy:
Private Lesson Ice is to be used by our Development Staff only. Development staff and clients have this ice reserved for private development sessions. Outside coaches or instructors are not permitted to provide their services in NSWC facilities unless approved by the Sports Director and General Manager. Professional coaching staff and instructors are available through the Athletics Departments and must be on the approved coaching list prepared annually.

North Shore Warriors
The North Shore Warriors Hockey Academy was founded in 2016, and formerly named the West Vancouver Warriors Hockey Academy. This high performance hockey development program remains the only Hockey Canada Accredited School on Vancouver’s North Shore and joined the Canadian Sport School Hockey League in 2016. Since that time, the Academy as expanded to four teams playing in U15, U15 Prep, U16 Prep and U18 Prep divisions. As a National Leader in education based hockey, the CSSHL has established itself as the league of choice for youth hockey development. The Warriors have won two CSSHL Championship titles (2018, 20919) and is proud of their many alumni playing in the WHHL, BCHL, NCAA, and professional ranks. NHL draft picks Layton Ahac (Las Vegas, 3rd round 2019) and Fraser Minten (Toronto, 2nd round, 2022) are recent Warriors alumni (Ahac-2016-17; Minten – 2018-18, 2018-19, 2019-20).
In 2022, The Academy rebranded and became the North Shore Warriors Hockey Academy to better reflect the fantastic region in which we call home.
