Public Health Officer Order & ViaSport Update – Nov 21, 2020

Dear NSWC Members,

We want to officially welcome all members back! The recent announcement regarding the BC Government Public Health Order, states that sport is being permitted to operate under viaSport phase 3 guidelines, with the exception of no spectators and no travel.

No travel to, from and between communities for athletic activities like games, competitions, training and practices is prohibited under this order, unless it is within your local minor hockey association (MHA). Therefore, all our members, even those who reside outside of Vancouver Coastal Health, are now able to resume training at the NSWC.

Effective immediately, all practices no longer have phase 2 restrictions (with the exception of no spectators allowed) and therefore, teams are allowed to incorporate scrimmages within their team practices only.

We will be able to have inter-association scrimmages starting November 24th and will communicate how this will look/operate amongst teams by Tuesday November 24th. Until then, you may only practice and scrimmage amongst players on your own team.

The NSWC is continuing to require that all players wear their CCM Game On Masks while partaking in on-ice activities.

We are excited to be moving back into phase 3, however, to ensure everyone’s continued health and safety, we expect our parents, players, coaches and staff to continue to abide by the NSWC health and safety guidelines. We need to continue to work together and make sure we are all doing our part in following the rules and expectations set forth by the NSWC.

The Hockey Department continues to work with viaSport, Health Authorities, BC Hockey & PCAHA to provide all our members with continuous upates in regards to the minor hockey season.

Thank you,

NSWC Hockey Department
